I wonder if someone could give me some actual snake temperatures taken with a heat gun. I thought my warm side and cool side temperatures were good but my snakes are always on the warm end. Their heat gun temps are 83 to 86, even though the surface temps of the hides are higher. I have three BP's and I have on been at this a few months.

BP's need a temperature gradient. Their body temperatures will fluctuate, unlike ours. Provide them one side that the floor of the enclosure is in the upper 80's or around 90F, and the cooler side can be low 80's or high 70's. They will move to control their own temperature however it needs to be. Often you'll see them on the warm side after eating a large meal as it helps them digest. My bp is all over the place, I never know where she's going to be, but I think she does probably stay on the cool side a tad more than the warm.

Hey. That's no where near enough of a heat gradient.
Mine is 32c on the hot end and 25c on the cold. (89f-77f)
My younger bps tend to be in the cold hides unless they have just eaten. My older bps are in the hot hides most of the time

Heat gradients themselves are completely unnecessary, and fighting about correct heat gradient temperatures that are a few degrees off is even more ridiculous.

If they where unnecessary then the snake would never use it would they ! . Because that's what snakes have in the wild. 1 consistent temp all the time ?
It's up to you if you want to have your snakes in 1 constant temp but I'd rather leave my snakes decide what they want for them selves.
