Bio Student/Herper Bitten by Pet Cobra

this has been in the news the last few days and i thought i would post this as there's been some development...

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – A man bitten by a cobra Monday night in Orange County has improved to fair condition.

Ali Iyoob was bitten on the wrist by a cobra in what his parents said was a “freak accident.” It is still to early to determine if amputation will be required.

Iyoob was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill where anti-venom was administered to help save him.

Iyoob’s parents said Wednesday he is breathing and moving on his own.

They said their son is extremely passionate about animals and all the animals in his home were from his involvement with the Reptile Rescue of Carolinas, a group they said he started.

seems like he's a bright kid and was really into the community. his King Cobra tagged him and now fear has set back the work he was doing around promoting herp culture and education. ):

I feel a bad for the kid, but it sounds like the King probably knew more about what she was doing than the kid did. Keeping Kings is a pretty pro level move.

Wow! Sad. That's why you nee to be licensed appropriately to help avoid mishaps like this. "Hot" licensing is a structured training program that is required for ownership. How can you educate others when you yourself are not taking the required training. Almost oxymoron like. Well, i guess we don't really have all the intimate details though.

I did read he was licensed to keep in the state but the county is saying he was not licensed to keep in their county. Whether or not this is true, I don't know.
