    Unhappy Worst Nightmare...

So yesterday after cleaning out my young BP cage and changing her water, i went on to the next thing, this was about 3pm i had left my house and after a nice night out i came home at about 1 am just to realize, I HAD LEFT THE LOCKS OFF THE CAGE.

After having a mini heart attack, i went to look, surely she had gotten out..... ANNNNNNNNND there she is with that ball python "smile" we all love, right in the cage basically saying to me " yeah i know you messed up and didn't lock me up, but you fed me so i think ill just chill here for a while"

Wont be making that mistake again lol.

Haha! It happens to most of us! One of mine actually did get out, I don't even know how. I found him underneath the tank (it's held up on 1" styrofoam blocks to make an air gap for the UTH). Which is good because if he went wandering the cats would definitely have chewed him up. What kind of lid do you have? Are the locks necessary for it to close properly, or are they mostly to keep little kid hands out?

not sure what you mean by "uh okay?" but anyway the locks are for both, to make sure she doesn't get out and to keep people out as well. Well i say locks but its the clips that just keep the screen shut and secure.

I'll give you a few examples.
Omg I'm so worried if I locked the house door or not my mind was racing the whole day! I went home and indeed I locked the door. Uh....ok?

I parked my Lexus in the hood to visit a friend! I was so worried it will be smashed and stolen! I came out and my baby was just fine. Uh.... Ok?

I'm so worried if I left the stove on. I think my house will burn down! After work I come back to expect a fire truck at my house. But nothing happened. Uh... Ok?

After I fed my snakes I left the locks unlocked. I went to the bar with a few buddies. All of a sudden I remembered leaving the locks unlocked. I wonder if the snakes got out all night! I came home to check and sure enough they're still there. Uh.... Ok?

BTDT, ditched the tanks after the second escape.

Recently my common WC garter snake took an unauthorized slither; I opened the drop door to put a feeder in, and she came flying out like a coiled spring, hit the floor, and took off under a dresser before I could twitch. I found her two months later in a pile of my daughter's stuffed animals.

I think we would both be happier if I put her back outside where I found her. The only reason I brought her in is that she had an injury, which has long since healed.

I worry about escape too. I have kids, cats, a rabbit, and a tarantula, plus neighbors who think she is an aggressive killer snake destined to grow to 25 ft long. (Give me a break.) Don't worry, though. That scare will keep you from forgetting again.
