    Question Breeding questions

Hey everyone I'm looking into breeding and coming up with a plan for my project I want to do. If you take a female pied and breed her to 2 different male het pieds is there a chance to get offspring of the types the males?

For example taking a Mojave het pied male and a pastel het pied male to the female can you get pastel pieds and Mojave pieds in the clutch?
    1.0 pewter bee
    1.0 banana het pied
    0.1 pied
    1.1 mahogany
    0.1 golden retriever

    Re: Breeding questions

Yes you can. Here are all the combos you would get from that clutch.

pastave pied (pastel mojave): 6% chance

pastave 66% het pied: 19% chance

    pastel pied: 6% chance

    mojave pied: 6% chance

66% het pied pastel: 19% chance

66% het pied mojave: 19% chance

    Normal pied: 6% chance

    66% het pied: 19% chance

    Awesome thanks!

Now why is it only 66% if both males are 100% het to a full pied?

    Re: Breeding questions

I'm sorry I must not have read your post correctly. I thought that you had a mojave het pied male and a pastel het pied female. Okay sorry I am changing my answer to no. You have to have a female that is het pied as well. When you breed two males to a female there is usually only one father. So in that case you are going to get all het pieds if the female doesn't have some sort of pied gene.

Sorry about the confusion. It would be easier to get a 1.0 pastel het pied and a 0.1 mojave het pied or the other way around. Not many breeders breed multiple males to a female because there is a chance that the father they want to sire the clutch won't produce the clutch if that makes sense. Again sorry about the confusion good luck with your breeding project.

Who did you get the males from?
Do you know for sure they really are 100% het?
If you wind up with a clutch of normal or no pieds then you don't know which male didn't get it done.
    That's just me though.
