Are there any studies or people with experience with the maximum high and low temps for ball python egg incubation? I mean maximum, not the generally used range.
The reason I ask is, last year, I did away with incubators all together. I plopped all the egg boxes on a shelf and they all hatched 100%. I did this because of a couple of failed clutches in the incubator, and after much frustration as to finding out what was wrong to no avail, I said "screw it" and just put them on the shelf as my friends do, and they all hatched (mind you, we live in a hot humid climate). The temps in the room fluctuated day and night, from mid 80s up to 92. No, I did not record the number of days it took or the hatchling sizes.
This year, some females laid earlier and also it is cooler than last year. The room dips to 82F. I Mcguyvered a ghetto bator and there are my current clutches in there but no room left. In fact I had to put the last two clutches in one egg box today already. I am wondering if 82 is ok.
I read elsewhere there was a study that showed ball eggs hatched fine, but took longer, even at high 70s? But can't find it now.
Anyone know?
