My nice calm docile pastel enchi just went at me lmao

In the entire time I've had her she's never struck at anything other than food . She's been handled regularly ( although not in a week or two ) . I just went to refill hEr water dish and as soon as I slid the tub open she struck out like a lightning bolt and just missed my chest . Husbandry and temps are all fine .. The only thing I can think of is I recently moved her from her 15 qt tub to my v18 rack . Maybe the different space is stressing her out ??? She ate two days ago and didn't show any abnormal signs ....

taking an occasional shot at you is not abnormal either. not the usual BP behavior, but it happens.

Not new to the hobby ... Just thought it was strange because she is normally a sweetie .. Needless to say I moved her back to the other rack and she is fine again...

Probably startled her and that is why? The tub being opened usually means food is coming? The other thing is these are captive animals with wild instincts. We take a risk of being bitten every time we enter their living space. It does come with the hobby but we need to practice being prepared for it and try to do the things to avoid it.

Albert - that's what I'm thinking ... She never acts that way probably just caught her off guard ... She's back to normal today

Oh, ok. Next time, and also for the future, open the tub more slowly and that could be the remedy. Lol.
