    I Joined The Club!

I was bored and after reading all these great threads about DIY incubators I set out to make one. Step one was going on Craigslist and finding a free wine cooler. Once I got it home I gutted all the refrigeration components. Then I mounted my twelve inch heat tape, a 120mm CPU fan, tricked it out with some remote control operated LED's, and lined the shelves with plastic light diffuser to level them out. So far the project has set me back less than $50 without a thermostat. Once I get it up and running I will add the water bottles, which will help maintain the temps after opening the door. I can fit six Sterilite 6 quart tubs and could fit eight of the Container Store shoebox tubs. Ignore the top of the pic, the color of the LED's makes the aluminum tape look weird. I also filled a hole with spray foam where I removed a refrigerant line that looks bizarre under the LED's in the photo. In-person it doesn't look that way at all. If anyone has questions fire away.

Your incubator looks great. I really believe that the home made incubators work a lot better than some of the commercial models.

If it anyone has questions ask away or PM me. I literally read every thread about the wine cooler incubators before starting this project.
