Positive she's not pregnant. :) Ultrasound Update

Yesterday was a WOW MAIL day, perfect for a birthday, even though I wasn't expecting any presents to be delivered... just an amazing snek, and our Ultrasound machine showed up too, which was a bonus! Between a badly translated instruction manual, several Youtube videos, and the miracle of Google keyword search, we made short work of figuring out how to operate the unintuitive little thing, and did scans on all of our breeding-size females.

As it turns out, the Kingpin female IS NOT pregnant. We were seriously surprised, as we thought from everything we had seen that she was much further along. Now we're uncertain whether she's just growing follicles or whether she's reabsorbing them - they are currently 21mm, so we're going to continue pairing her and take measurements every week or two so that we can figure out what is going on.

She ate last week, but refused again this week... we're still unclear at what point a female will go off food during the breeding cycle, and would appreciate any clarification from the community.

Turns out, we also have an Albino girl with 27mm follicles (she has been paired with a TSK Snow), and our Orange Ghost (paired with a Buttery Nipple) has 4-6 EGGS hanging out, so we are incredibly excited to get a little ghost clutch sometime in the coming month(s)! Her next shed should be pre-lay, so we are crossing off the days and waiting hopefully!

Good stuff! Sounds like a fun day for sure. Just keep breeding the female that's at 21mm. Breeding her once every three weeks or once a month is fine and hopefully the follicles will keep growing. As far as going off feed, my females stop eating a few weeks before ovulation.

Congrats Aer! Sounds like a good.investment in the ultrasound machine. That should definitely take you to the next level. Best of luck on all the gravid girls?

So far the Orange Ghost is the only one who's gravid... the rest are either building or just squatting for the free meals. The Albino is the next furthest along, so hopefully she'll be the next one up!

Ultra sounding sounds fun. .. next time you are doing that grab a photo of the screen so we can see?

Do you have a photo of your butter mimosa? (Feels weird if i ask to see your buttery nipple).... I have one to and just wonder how similar they look.

Best shot I have of him is hooked up to the Orange Ghost. I don't think I have one of him on his own - gotta get some glamour shots!

What ultrasound machine did you get? I've been considering getting one but wasn't sure if the cheap ones were worth it.

We got the CMS600P2(VET) with 7.5 MHz linear probe - it is a little notebook style machine, very portable. Only time will tell whether it's worth it financially, but even having used it just the one day, we feel it was a great investment to help us along in the process of keeping track of how things are moving along inside our girls. Now we'll be able to track trends with eating and follicle development, and learn the ropes and rhythms a little better with less guesswork. Just the hard work of keeping the girls from wiggling all over the place while we try to get clear images!

Sounds like a good investment, it is a shame the girl with the 21 mm follicles isn't pregnant but at least you know now, I guess that's better then waiting on something that it isn't there yet.

great news the buttery nipple is having some eggs!
