Re attaching uth?
I am going to be upgrading from ten gallon tanks too 20g tanks and want too reuse the uth. The heaters are practically new. I was wondering has anyone reused the uth? If so how did you get them to stick to the new tanks. They are zoo med heaters that fit ten to twenty gallon tanks.

Aluminum tape, as EL-Ziggy said. But don't buy it from a reptile supply source, or you're going to overpay drastically. Check Lowes, Home Depot, or a similar hardware store. I think it's usually in the heater and ductwork section, but don't quote me on that - my roll has lasted me for over a year now.

Sticky side to sticky side with foil tape then it is always reusable IF you don't damage it trying to get it off of the current tank.
Then use foil tape around the edge to attach.

Re: Re attaching uth?
Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate the advice. Any good tips on not damaging them taking them of the old tanks?

Best bet is to just buy either heat tape or a heat tape style UTH like a Ultratherm or Flukers. Then you only need a roll of foil tape and can mount and unmounts it millions of times. Otherwise if its like a Zoo Med one, then pretty much what PitOnTheProwl said.
Peel them really slowly and try not to bend it. I've removed a few Zoo Med ones and they are a pain, just have to go slow.

95% rubbing alcohol, putty knife and go slow without bending it too much.

That's probably the best way to do it, but just in case anything goes wrong during the process or down the road, here's what ZooMed has to say about it:

Thank you for letting me know I did see that when I first purchased them. I knew this time would come hopefully I don't need to re purchase some for the new tanks.
