Can I give my BP her injection while on shed?

    Hello!

My BP has an uper respiratory infection and is getting an injection of ceftazidime every three days. I was wondering of I'm able to still give her her injection even though she's in blue? I'd ask my vet but they're closed on weekends!

    Thanks

Re: Can I give my BP her injection while on shed?

I just went though this and the answer is yes. Just make sure you get it deep enough, either IM or Sub Q as per your vets instructions. I always lift up on the needle just a bit to make sure it's under before I inject. If you do this and you can see the needle, you'll be under the shed and not into the snake. I'm assuming you've seen a shed before so you know how thin it really is. Trust your experience and proceed as normal. Speedy recovery!

Thanks! I gave her her shot and she was not happy... I wish they could understand it's because we love them!

Re: Can I give my BP her injection while on shed?

It's awful, I hated giving the injections and was so happy when it was all done! It took her a while after to get used to being held again, every time I took her out she thought she was going to be poked. Hope she heals up fast! But yeah, don't think being in shed would affect anything at all.

Thanks! Since her second injection I haven't heard any clicking, popping, or wheezing so hopefully she'll be fine!
