Re: What do you feed ...

Pre-killed or frozen/thawed. By misadventure we've now got a thriving breeding colony of rats. We've also got a few snakes (not nearly as many as some to be sure) in differnet parts of the house - so simultaneous feedings can't be monitored as closely as I'd like them to be for a live feeeding. Als pre-killed laid outside the hide will usually be approached/eaten quicker (in the case of the snakes we keep at any rate) than a live one. Bottom line is - its just easier for us and less to worry about.

Re: What do you feed ...

I feed f/t. But I would have no problem feeding live. I am all about not having to monitor the feedings. I actually have started breeding my own mice. I just kill them and freeze them.

hey everyone, i have always feed f/t. But now since I have started breeding mice I have the opportunity to feed fresh pre-killed. I know alternating from live to f/t is not recommended, but what about f/t to fresh pre-killed?

Re: What do you feed ...

I have done all three, at various points, but mostly feed p/k now because we have our own breeding rats.

Re: What do you feed ...

I feed my colony on average 200+ live mice and rats a week. Been doing it like that for a very long time and I've never had a single snake bitten, scratched, or ever looked at funny by a rodent.

In the past I have fed F/T as well and P/K and either way you go will work out great for your snakes!

Re: What do you feed ...

i use to feed live long ago then went to f/t and now i'm back to live. when you get a great deal on live and it works out to be cheaper then frozen. you go for it and feeding live is safe anf fun in someways. although i did have a hard time with a few i think they forgot how to eat live. LOL
