I was hoping there might be a sticky and I tried to find some info via the search and reading past posts but I haven't found what I am looking for. So the background is, my little 324 gram Monty (BP) has pin worms. The vet is giving me medicine to put in his feed. I just got him so pretty sure it became a problem at the pet store no surprise right? Apparently the big chain feeds have had a ring worm issue but I now have a feed supplier the local professional breeders and reptile sanctuary use, they inform their customers if there is ever a contamination, they are trust worthy so I should be good now. My main concern of course is the health of everyone in my household. Monty has gained 14 grams since I took him to the vet a week and a half ago, so he is gaining for sure thank the gods but he was on the skinny side when we got him so he will 100% be treated. However the vet told us pin worms are species specific and they wont jump species however I have bowel disease and a compromised immune system so of course I am very concerned about my health as well as my cat's, dog's and husband's. So if anyone has any information on if pin worms is cross species contagious, how concerned I should be for Monty's safety and the other inhabitants of this house, any pointers for cleaning up his enclosure like specific cleaners etc. I would be so very grateful. Thanks so much!
