    New Carpet

    Well,

After a year or so owning a kingsnake, and longer than that lusting after a carpet python, I finally brought my new boy home.
He is a Caramel Jag from Psychotic Exotics.

First things first, I had to procure a new cage from Ed Lilley at Constrictors Northwest. Luckily for me, he had a 3'x2'x18" in stock.
I furnished it with some grapewood from Home Depot, cypress/coco coir mix for substrate, a Pro-Products RHP (running off a Herpstat 2), 2 hides from LLL Reptile (I'm a local), and some PVC perches that I sanded with 120 grit to make them a little grippier.
Thanks to GIO for sanity checking me on the thermostat placement!

The new arrival inspecting his perches on his first night home:

And a couple of pictures of the first handling session today. He had 8 days to settle in totally unperturbed, a rat, and two additional days to rest before the photo session.

Gorgeous snake. I'm trying to locate one but they are hard to find, in my part of the world (Eastern Canada).
