Shed + Mites, how to make him comfortable?

Hey all. I was going through my snakes yesterday, doing regular cleaning when I noticed one of my boys has mites. I stopped right there and researched, found some products and ordered them. So I've got a week or so to wait around twiddling my thumbs until I can help him. They're super super tiny and I don't see very many, but it still is worrisome.

My question is what can I do to help him, if anything, to make him more comfortable? I read you can give them baths to drown the mites, or dry out the tank to hurt em, but it isn't hot or dry enough here for that really, and I'm worried about bathing him since he just came out of blue today, still waiting on the shed in a week or so. Advice?

Use provent-a-mite on all enclosures. I wouldn't mess with him too much just now till he has shed.

I don't know what products you ordered but waiting is only giving the mites more time to breed, lay eggs and spread. You really have to act quickly to afford the best relief to the reptiles. There is a product called reptile relief that is sold in Petland, Petsmart and Petco. You should really try to get that as soon as possible. Switch your animals out of where they are and garbage bag the enclosures until you can treat them with PAM (proventamite). Time is of the essence!

+1 to Albert. The local chain stores are pretty good on their reptile supplies despite their normal horrible husbandry of their inhouse animals. Get some relief spray and get them on paper towel in plastic tubs with only a hide and water bowl. This makes it very easy to monitor the animals and gives the mites fewer placed to lay eggs. Also get provent-a-mite and spray down everything in the vicinity. Allow it to fully dry on surfaces that your snakes can come in contact with. The sooner you start this the better off you will be.

Thanks, I bought a reptile relief + PAM combo. Should be here Saturday, but I guess I'll head out and get something from Petco/petsmart too.

Yes man, don't wait for that until Saturday. You can and should start the treatment immediately. Good move! The reptile relief can be used on all your hard surfaced items too.

I used the PAM in all of their tanks like it said and youtube vid from LLLreptile, I followed it with the reptile relief and the PAM. The boy who had it seemed to 'feel better' but that may have just been me- the others absolutely hated it being put in a cage and sprayed, haha.

So, my question is, how did I get mites?? It seems to be only on the one snake, but they all had been given the same bedding out of the same package, same logs they've had for 6+ months, same f/t food out of the same bag in the same freezer, washed water bowls/tongs/everything else often, etc. I don't understand how one would have it and the others wouldn't, since they all get the same treatment?

Also, now a few days later, I took him out to check him out (along with all others before him), and I still saw one (only one....) crawling on him. It seemed bigger than last weeks... So, another question, how many treatments/times/weeks will it take to be rid of them? I thought after the first time it kills all live things, yet here he is with a seemingly bigger one on him.
