    Hello

Hello all from Philadelphia, PA. I registered recently as I am the proud guardian of a 6 month old female lesser ball python that I acquired from the NY reptile expo last month. This is my second go around with ball pythons. I bought a normal about 20 years ago when i was a not so responsible grad student. He (I think) was bought from a pet store in the northeast section of Philadelphia and I kept him in a ten gallon tank in my dorm room. He was a very gentle python and eventually I had to relocate him to California where I'm originally from. He was about 8 years old when he passed away. Such a gentle guy who never once struck me although he did get my dad and brother because they were dangling rats in front of him. He was a live rat kinda guy.

So different now. Did much research this time and watched youtube videos unlike a impulse buy back in the day. Bought a captive bred lesser morph female from a breeder at the NY Metro expo last month. Have her (Sissy) in a tub with a heating pad and thermostat and even have a oil space heater in the room she is in to make sure the temp stays in the 80's since we turn down the heat in our place at night and when we are at work. I feed her F/T rat pups and have handled her sparingly. Makes sense that since I did so much that i didn't do last time that I have a girl who has already struck me and is very tense. But we love her and the challenge of taming her down getting to know her is part of the fun.

I don't know if you guys know this but Ikea has wrapping paper in rolls by the exit. We use it for my 4 year old daughter to draw on and also to line Sissy's tub. Now just have to learn how to explain that Sissy eats rats because my daughter asked me why I was buying sleeping rats in a bag at the expo.
