Vision cage & Mistaking question
My first question is what vision cage would be an ideal size for an adult male? He is only 8 months old and I picked him up the same day I bought a one month old v211 for $40. It seems small but its probably ideal for right now but being tax time I want to buy a bigger one while I have the money. The one he is in now Is 24x22x14 the two I'm looking at are the v332 36x28x18 and the v400 48x26x14. I read a couple other threads with almost the same question I'm asking but it ended up people recommending other brand cages and I want the vision cage since I'm very impressed with the v211.
Second question about mistking is it ok to use in an enclosure for a bp? I have trouble with humidity in the v211 so I figured I would buy the mistking starter instead of spraying it with spray bottle every couple hrs.

For most adult males that 3 ft Vision should work fine. However my preference is to err on the side of bigger. My adult Female can be very active at times and likes to stretch out. I plan to move her from her 3 ft tank to 4x2x2 plastic. But she is 5 foot long and will utilize that space.
Low humidity with a Vision cage is very surprising.
Sounds like a substrate change is in order, like cypress and or coconut husk.
Maybe try a bigger water bowl first.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Vision cages usually have a couple large vents on the back the will drain your heat and humidity very fast, so the first thing would be to close those off and see where that gets you. The mistking would definitely handle the duty fine, best mist system available even if they are pricey.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Is height an issue? I understand more floor space is better but should I go with something a bit higher then 14? I could always spend a little more and get the v422 48x28x18.
I don't think the mistking starter set is that expensive. About as much as the exo Terra but I hear that is junk. I figure all I need is the starter and an extra nozzle so I can put one on each side of the tank. Should I have it spraying on both sides or only one side? It will probably be only a few second spray every 2-3 hours depending on how the bigger vision cage holds humidity. I'm using care fresh as my substrate, I would think it would hold water pretty good. The breeder I bought from told me care fresh is the only thing they use besides paper towels so I took there advice.

Height is really not necessary, only a few bps will make any use of it. Most stay on the ground pretty much, and usually in a hide if they have one. That said it won't hurt anything either really. Now as far as the mist systems, I keep forgetting mistking has a cheaper started system now. And I don't think the exoterra is junk so much as the mist king pump is just hugely better in every way. The usual failures come from people using tap water in them, and the gunk in most tap water will kill a misting system rather quickly. In the case of the mistking, the nozzles will clog I would imagine, but the pump would probably be OK. Best to just use RO water in any case.
Now as for the bedding, I personally have never liked the card fresh. Tends to be very dusty if dry, and when kept moist usually molds in short order. I have been using a 50/50 mix of cypress mulch and eco-earth, which is easy to spot clean, doesn't normally mold, and can hold a lot of moisture. I literally pour water in by the gallon to rehydrate it if I've let it get too dry, and with a misting system set up that should never happen.

Thanks Darkbird. I'll keep an eye on the care fresh. I'll be changing it every 2 weeks but if I notice any problems I'll try the 50/50 mix. It never is dry bc of how often I have to mist but if I notice mold I'll switch immediately. I'll make sure I don't use tap water with the mistking. I'll probably save myself the $100 and go with the v400 and not worry about the extra height. Could go with the v332 for the same price but would rather have the extra foot of floor space. Would rather have the 4 foot and not need it then the 3 foot and wish I had the extra foot.
