    Are bps okay with mint?

So we have been fighting a very annoying mouse problem for about a week now and I bought some pure mint extract because I read that mice can't stand the smell. I didn't want to use poisons because I have cats that I don't getting into it and I was afraid they would get their noses caught in traps. I poured this mint extract all around the house and honestly it smells like a toothpaste factory. Afterwards I realized that the reason that mice don't like the mint is because their noses are very sensitive and now I'm worried that the mint is bothering my ball python, or worse, damaging her nose. I poured some right behind her enclosure too. She keeps raising her head and she's looking around but I'm not sure if she's just curious of the smell or if she's disturbed. What do you guys think?

Maybe try asking an exotics vet? She might just be smelling it thats all. I doubt the smell could damage her nose though.

I cant find it now but I think one of those "snake away" things.....
I think its okay as long as there is not direct contact depending how strong the odor is.

thanks! i was worried because i know certain animals can actually end up having nose problems if they're around certain smells for too long (like what arthritis cream does to opossums) but it looks like after her initial annoyance she settled down. it helps that it's been several hours now and the smell isn't nearly as strong.

don't take my word because i've personally never seen evidence of this but where i live people commonly put arthritis creams (the really strong ones) in sheds and near trashcans to ward off opossums and people say it tears up their noses. it apparently even makes them bleed. it teaches the opossums not to do this and they pass it down. kind of a tale really, i'm not sure if it actually does that or not.

Hahaha.... I wonder if they're talking about something like emu oil or tiger balm? I've never heard of regular aspercream injuring possums and I've worked with them my whole life. Maybe the eucalyptus in the other stuff is what repels them? I'll ask our head rehabber about this AND the mint and snake question, and let ya know.
