RHP with paper towel
I know that RHP's work to heat the substrate and fixtures in the cage. Im planning on housing my snake in an animal plastics T8 and want to know if anybody had experience with this setup using paper towels. Will this substrate work well with the RHP as far as increasing ambient temps?
I really don't want to use anything but paper as I'm trying to keep this as simple a cleanup as possible.

RHP are typically place on the top (sometime side) of the enclosure whereas UTH are usually placed at the bottom of the enclosure therefore substrate is irrelevant really.

Paper towels should be fine. I use dimpled brown craft paper which is thicker than paper towels with no problems whatsoever.

Re: RHP with paper towel
I don't use paper towels in my set up but I have seen plenty of other people do so in theirs. The RHP will provide warmth regardless of what you use. Just make sure you have the thermostat dialed in right and double check your temps. Have the set up running for a few days to make sure you can provide the right heat and humidity before putting the snake in there.

Sometimes I really envy people that use paper substrate lol Your clean ups and deep cleans must take a lot less time than mine! I can't do the paper though, my house gets too dry in the winter Plus I really like the way the mulch looks.

Clean up is really easy. Takes about 5 minutes for a spot clean and changing the paper out. Deep clean is about 15-20 min. The look is blah and boring though, I'll admit to that. I just picked up a Vision 15/32qt rack that I'm in the process of setting up. I think I'll go with sani chips or shredded aspen for those.

Back in the day, we had a regular poster on here who used it in his AP T5 cages, and it looked pretty cool. If you do a search for SerpentMerchant, you'll probably find the pictures.
