    Vacation

So I just dropped my two snakes off to my good friend house who is sitting them while I'm gone. It was very difficult for me to do since I've never been away from them long and he's got no experience with herps. I live in rural maine and couldn't find a company or anyone else to sit them. I am traveling down to Florida to watch my sister get married. While down there we are taking the kids to Disney. Will be gone for two weeks. What do you do when or if you go on vacation? It's gonna be hard to not worry just a bit when gone.

    Re: Vacation

I leave my snakes in their terrariums but my setup lets me do that because everything is controlled by thermostats.

If I'm gone more than a weekend, I have a friend check up on them to make sure everything is ok and they have enough water.

    Re: Vacation

I fill their bowls a little extra with water, add some extra humidity stuff and have my mom check them once a day for me (she does that on her own). If I didn't have her I have a friend who would check on them for me. The longest I've been away from them was only a week though.

    Re: Vacation

I do not feed like 2 weeks before leaving, so they dont go when I m not home, I change the substrate from paper to something absorbent, so if they poop anyway they stay clean and i put new clean water. Every rack works with thermostats.

What is this "vacation" of which you speak?

Between the animals and the business, the longest anyone is gone is overnight.
