    Shredding issues

    Good morning,

I have I believe a 3 month old corn snake, he's 31cm long. I brought him on Christmas eve, once I got him home I found out he had mites, we washed him and cleaned tank etc and got rid of the mites on the 29th when he was mite free he started to shred, his head eye caps and neck have come off fine, but the body is still on.

I have been soaking him and rubbing with cloth but it doesn't seem to want to budge am I doing it right?

He also hasn't eaten since Christmas but is lively and seems fine in himself.

any advice to help him out would be greatly appreciated

    thank you

    Hayley

Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.

What type of enclosure is he in? How are the temps, ambient and warm, cool side? Humidity? I wouldn't soak him to remove the remaining skin. The damp towel is ok having him crawl through it. Consider using a high humidity substrate like 100% cypress mulch mixed with Aspen or care fresh. Usually after a bout with mites a snake will be mildly dehydrated or may suffer with inappetance. Just make sure they have fresh water in their bowl. The appetite will return. Don't forget to retreat for the mite eggs that hatch 3 to 4 weeks later. Good luck. Use the search bar here on the forum to get the directions for proper eradication of mites. It involves quarantine, cleaning and disinfecting and retreating.
Stay in peace and not pieces.
