    First Burm :) Meet Skittles

Here is my wonderful CB14 Granite Burm, Skittles!!
I got her from a petshop on New Years Eve. Bargain price, £320, plus 4x2x2ft viv (and headlamps, guard, dimmer, decor and a whole load of aspen)
She is amazing, even if I have only had her for a few days. We fed her today, and she ate like a champ! (Unlike Corkii, my ball who has gone off feed for a few months >.<)

After she had her rat, she curled up in her hide <3 Little face of mischief. lol

Now does she look to thin to be a 1-2 year old? She is about 1070 grams and 4ft long.
The petshop fed her once every 2 weeks with a small rat. Should i increase the schedule?
Also, she seems to be quite hissy when we get her out. We had to use gloves because we thought she was going to strike. But she is getting a little better, and once she is out of the viv she is as chill as ever. Would she grow out of that behavior?

But either way, she is a lovely snake and I cant wait to see her grow
    Thanks

    Congrats on you little Beauty!
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Fantastic looking rodent killer! I think pet shops feed less to slow the growth of the animal. That could explain the hissiness as well. Underfed animals voice their displeasure often. I would get a exact weight on him and feed him 20% of that every 2 weeks to start out. Good luck and keep us posted. Lol.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

I'd say she is normal for a year old but small for a two year old, chances are pet store fed her the same size meals for most of her life instead of gradually increasing size. Feeding at every two weeks she would be larger, even if she came from "small" parents. With proper feeding you should see some nice growth in the next 6 months-year and even more when you get her on larger prey, she will start to get the girth on her when she hits the 10-12 ft range. Be prepared and have fun, congrats on the new beauty.

P.S Newspaper under the aspen will help save the bottom of your cage and make cleanup easier, your not messing with small BP turds anymore

I know, I love them too. Much more than Albinos and stuff. They are quite uncommon where I am too, so thats also a bonus for me

Yeah, i think they kept her on Small Rats, just once every 2 weeks. Will defiantly be looking into getting some larger rats for her. Hopefully before the end of the month, I would order them in.

You're going to love having a Burm, they are my favorite snake to keep. You've got a nice looking granite there, it is a bit small for its age, but feed it consistently, and give it good sized meals, they can handle it, and it will grow.

Yeah, I would agree she would be exceptionally small for 2 years, and on the small end for a 1 year old female. My male albino burm is about 7 months old and is 3.5 ft +. Great looking snake though! Burms usually have no problem making up size once their feed increases.
