Typical weight for a six month male?

Just wanted opinions on what a typical weight Is for a six month old male. We just weighed Severus and he came in at 220 grams and this was a few days after a meal. He's a fantastic eater, hasn't missed a meal but should we be feeding him more often than once a week? Or is that a good weight? Thanks!

He sounds fine. I feed all of mine on a weekly schedule.

It is fine. My males around that age averaged around 190-300g. They were all purchased at different times and ages. Breeders tend to feed less to cut costs on the food on the animals they do not plan on keeping. If you got him when he was 2 months old (or older), more then likely he was fed once a week on smaller prey then you are feeding him now (which is what by the way?).

My youngest male who is 3 months old weighs at 156g. Meaning if he is constantly fed the way I am going now, he should should weight in around 290-300g at 6 months old. People who breed may actually over feed animals (not all of course) to get them heavier faster. I have seen a 3 month old BP reach 300+g. And by 6 months old, breeding at a weight of 600g. I do not agree to this but some people do do it.

My male's hatching weight though was 81g. I have a female who weighed in at 60g when born, 2 weeks younger then the male, at 2 1/2 months old, she weighs in at 123g. Much smaller then the male. They are fed the same and her lesser weight has to do with her birth weight. SO feeding, and weight at birth has a lot to do with just how much a BP will weigh at certain times. At 6 months old, this female will probably only weight 210-250g give or take.

He gets one live mouse a week (not sure what size my husband is the one that feeds him during the day when I'm at work). We tried him on f/t but he just wasn't having it. Since we are increasing our collection in the next month or so I'd really like to have everyone on f/t. Hopefully second time is a charm?

At 220g he should be eating 22-33g based on the 10-15% rule (what I use) every 5-7 days. That being said that mouse would need to be large to extra large for feeding. You will probably get better growth moving to rats. I like to follow the chart on this thread for feeding. I weigh once a month to determine food item size.

Don't focus on the weight focus on the overall look.

Weight can vary greatly depending on hatching weight, how fast the animal was started, how much it eats, how frequently, food refusal etc.
