    My first ball python questions?

Hello, i will be getting my first snake and it will be a ball python. And i have some questions on the tank and setup. Im doing research now to make sure it is right before i buy the snake. All i have is a 20 gallon long tank. What will i need for lighting?. I have looked at the forums and alot of people say a uth. Is that all you need? Or do you need that and a infared heating lamp aswell? Im just confused if you need one or both.

Depends if you can maintain ambient temps or not as the uth will only give you a hot spot and will do nothing for cage temps.... Outside of the heat light option you can use a personal heater to heat the rooms ambient temp to an acceptable range
