Good evening all.
Yesterday was a weird day for me. I went to the local aquarium place to purchase a hygromerter and a thermostat to complete my first BP enclosure.
Upon getting there I got my Hygrometer and I also found a BP for sale cheap in the store. How cheap?
$36 dollars... for a baby normal. Now I know all the warnings but considering the state of the cage and the environment I thought it was a good deal. So far from what I have seen I have a very healthy snake. some stuck shed around its mid section but as we speak I am rectifying the situation ( Raised humidty and a slight soak.)
My setup is far from ideal and over the next few days it should be sorted out I have a rheostat controlling temps which I am not a fan of.. the heat mat is not sticking to the sterilite bin ( going to get foil tape tomorrow)
I am not sure what the sex is however its a young snake... fairly young... a few months at best. probably feeding on hoppers. It has hissed at me twice but has not made an attempt to strike me, in fact once I picked it up it seemed to find a comortable spot on my arm and relax. I have minimized handling only to clean up overly wet newspaper as the water bowl was spilt by me.
Over all the snake is super calm and has a wonderful temperment and is very curious of me, however upon returning to the bin the snake returns right back to its hide.
Now the name will depend on the sex, if it is a female, it will be Adrian, and if its a male it will be Rocky. I thought this was fitting considering I got the snake on boxing day.
I should also add this other point.
I met a local breeder and agreed to purchase a yearling male BP... the breeder in question has amazing animals and the yearling was very docile and not afraid of human contact at all. So what this means is I will be purchasing another bin.... another heating pad and another snake in about a week. I will also be getting an actual thermostat to control temperatures as well.
