    Heat issues

Hello all I am new to the forums and new to the hobby aderll
I have a small 15 qt rack system running off heat tape and using
a herpstat one . I am having trouble accurately reading the temps in my hot
area . I have the herp probe taped down to the center of the heat tape in the
center of the rack and set it to 90 degrees .
Sometimes when I use my digital thermometer and point it at that side
of the tub it gives me readings of 104 or 105 and I have no idea why

I'm thinking the temp gun I bought is not of the best quality and that has a lot to do with
    the fluctuations

    any help is appreciated

test the heat gun on something that you know works( i use my oven )then you can go from there
Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.

Thanks ! I also think the issue could be I put the herpstat probe on the top level of heat tapeInstead of the middle .. Still working on getting all 3 Levels just right
