question about quarantine
if you purchase more then one snake of the same species from a breeder should you keep them separate from each other and your current snakes or can you keep them together for the 90 day quarantine? i ask this because there is a show coming up and i know at the last show i went to there were a few buy one get one or buy one get one 1/2 off deals and was wondering how that would work out.

You can quarantine them in the same area as each other, but the animals themselves should be housed individually.

Re: question about quarantine
k, i am building a new set of racks to split my current ones up. and was looking at the current rack i have (built it in a way that limited me to just one tub size) could be put in another room that stays 78-81 so far this winter even after a few 30 degree mornings (cold for Texas) and using it as the quarantine rack.
so i assumed that 2 from same breeder (likely same issues if any) would be OK but what if i get 2 from different breeders should i then use a tank for one for 30 days for one of them?
i mean i understand the point of the quarantine, heck i enforce quarantine's at work, but i want to try to follow any and all customs that promote the snakes well being.

All quarantined animals dhould be housed individually in a location that is completely separate from your main collection for for a minimum of 90 days - regardless of where they came from. If a new animal is added ro the quarantine area after there are already animals there, the quarantine clock starts over at 0 for ALL animals in quarantine.

Re: question about quarantine
ok so even if they are from the same breeder they should be separated. guess i need another thermostat just in case.
and yes we do restart clocks on it for any newly exposed people or evidence of a new occurrence when dealing with chicken pox in immigration centers.

BPs should be housed individually anyway. Especially so when you're monitoring them as closely as you should be while in QT. How else do you determine which animal made the nasty runny poo if they're being housed together?

Re: question about quarantine
i get cha but one final question just to be sure of the info you gave me. if i get 2 snakes from the same breeder at the same time. can i put them both in a rack (separate tubs) and have that be their quarantine, or do i have to have them in separate area's from each other to ensure they don't give each other anything? basically im asking is if you get them from the same breeder wouldn't they likely have all the same issues?
just to make it clear i wouldn't, and haven't ever put 2 of my snakes in the same tub, or tank. and other then one day in the future have no desire to other than breeding. ive invested to much time and worry into them to let one get injured or killed by another, ive seen the pictures of cannibal snakes don't care to see it in person.

Re: question about quarantine
Same rack with separate tubs is good (even if they came from different breeders).

Didn't mean to scare ya. That's what I've meant the whole time.
EDIT: As long as the QT rack is in a completely different place than your main collection, of course.
