Well its feed and clean night for the big guy, my baby, and the monster planted 40. Figured some pictures were in order. This is the damaged goods snake that started me here to be exact. Turned out to be a boy. Pooh...

Ive been about the only planted guy so sometimes it makes it hard to talk to yall about too much. Im good with the glass guys. Prepared for bad things, but never had any health issue no matter what species of my small zoo. Meh... Rambles

i would love to have a bioactive, natural setup like that. but I got too many BP's. maybe i'll have to choose one lucky snake.

the real cool thing about your set-up is the fogger/mister. i remember your how-to thread awhile back. your big boy is lucky to live in such a cool place.

That is one cool set up! I would love to look into a planted set up, but I have next to no luck with plants, so basic it is for me! haha Really cool to see someone having success!

Its been an up and down road honestly. You have to remove all the chemical dirt the plants come in and get them firmly planted in your bio mix. Then you can tank them, months later... Been through alot of plants to find the right ones that work.

Yes initial setup, kind of a pain. But once its up, it takes care of itself. Remove turds and poke the dirt with a fork in that spot. A good bio soil and some worms take care of the rest. Change your own water, remove sheds... but plants naturally make their own humidity, good air, idk we love it. Once the wee guy i took from a bad home gets out of qt ill make it one too. A animal flipper that realized normals dont sell too well. Poor thing was ugly. Looking good and growing fast even in qt so its checkup should go well we hope.

Back on track while yes a pain to set up, long term i wouldnt have my tanks any other way. Sorry a little scattered have 10firebelly toads 2red eyes and 3whites to clean and tend today and my custom beardie enclosure im working on. Its odd when looking at poop under a microscope is fun...

Saw a similar looking mostly grown normal male at the pet store today. Really, really wanted him. He was mostly finished with a bad shed, and I think he had retained eye caps. Was thinking how much better it would be for him in his own enclosure, with a proper hide(s), some philodendron and Hedra helix for general cover, and correct humidity.

We keep a cold house, and I don't have the extra equipment to keep him properly warm right now, so even outside of the cost, taking him home was a non-issue.
