    No poop... when to worry?

I have a ~80g female mojave, just a little over 2 months old. I've had her about 4 weeks. The end of the first week, she pooped. I was told she was being fed weekly, and since taking ownership, I have been feeding her every 6 days. She is eating F/T hopper mice like a champ. She has had 4 feedings since I've had her... but she is has not pooped other than the first week. She seems fine when handled. In her enclosure she is sometimes in the warm hide and other times in the cool hide. I know she gets out and moves around from time to time.

Warm hide is 91F, and the cool hide is about 83F. Ambient temps are about 78-85. Humidity is between 45-60% (the warm side seems to drop lower than the cool side, as I have a CHE on that side).

I've read where some say their BP's deficate weekly, some are very random, and others are maybe once a month. Since she is my first, I want to be sure that if there is an issue that needs addressed, I'm on top of it. Do I need to be concerned?

Well there you go. They poo when they do. If they don't, they are likely absorbing more nutrients during digestion. Pretty common in a young snake that's growing. I have some that go only when they shed. Others are weekly. I wouldn't worry about it unless you see signs of blockage or constipation.

    • My BP only pooped each time she shed for a few months. The other day was the first time she pooped off the schedule she's been on. hehe

I had this same situation. My girl went over a month without a bowel movement. I was beginning to stress hardcore. I came from retics and burms who let loose every shed and sometimes in between. Aditi did not. Finally, she let go a huge dump. They are all different and go when they are ready.

Re: No poop... when to worry?

One of my BPs didn't go for about 5 weeks. He was big and wide and had 5 feedings in. I would say the day after the 6th feeding I got home to a horrendous stench. I went to his tub fearing the worst and my fears were answered! He had let go of the biggest pile i have ever seen and man it was rank! Almost just threw away the tub lol! I wouldn't worry. As long as the bp is still acting normal they will be fine.

So long there is no obvious blockage there is nothing to worry about, keep in mind that at that age/size they often utilize most of the prey for growth.

Don't worry. The poop will come, and when it comes, it will be mighty!

Ha... I chuckled out loud at this...

Thank you again everyone. I'm a worry'er by nature... glad to know I don't have to worry about this right now.
