My python is very tense
I just bought a Bumblebee Ball Python at a reptile expo last week. Yesterday night was the first time I went to feed her. There was no problem with feeding her, she ate with no problem. But now she seems very tense. She watches and follows every move as I get near her tank. shes very active now. She wsa always calm when I got near her tank and she hasn't acted like this before. Idk if this is normal or not. Any tips guys?

what's your enclosure set up and husbandry (temps, humidity, etc.) like? her being very tensed could be related to her comfort level in the enclosure. or stress due to the move.
or she might just be a nervous baby who thinks u are a giant predator out to get her.
RIP Mamba

^ more than likely she still thinks you're a giant monster. letting us know the set up details will help a lot in trying to figure the cause out tho.

Temperature varies from 75-80, at night I bring it up around 83 by putting a towel over the top
the humidity is around 64
i got a mini zilla halogen lighting and a heat mat
water dish a cork tube and a den.
I had her in this setup since Sunday and she has been content.
Thursday is is when I fed her. I gave her all day to digest and was planning to pick her up Saturday evening.
Any thoughts?

Re: My python is very tense
How are you monitoring temp? Are these the temps for hot side cold side or ambient? What are you using to heat the enclosure and is it regulated? How large is the snake and what size prey did you offer? Does she have adequate hiding places? A picture is worth 1000 words in this case.

Welcome to the forum Steven.
What you are describing is the same as when my Adult Ball and young Coastals are still in feed mode.
Either she is still hungry or needs a day or two to snap out of it.
Apologies if I missed this, but I did not see the age of your snake posted nor what size or kind of rodent was fed.
Feed Mode after 4 med rats, a HUGE meal for her.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
1.2 Coastal Carpet Pythons
Mack The Knife, 2013
Lizzy, 2010
Etta, 2013
1.1 Jungle Carpet Pythons
Esmarelda , 2014
Sundance, 2012
2.0 Common BI Boas, Punch, 2005; Butch, age?
0.1 Normal Ball Python, Elvira, 2001
0.1 Olive (Aussie) Python, Olivia, 2017
Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.

I'd go with this ^^ .
You've described my Dwarf Hypo Burmese python and how he is after his meal ..... I sometimes give him a bonus if I've miscalculated ...

Re: My python is very tense
ill try to take a picture later today. but she is a little less the 2ft long.
not tot sure how old she is, the guy I bought her from said shes about 9 months away from being able to breed. idk if that helps.
the mouse I fed her was small, maybe about 2 1/2 inches big. maybe shes still hungry like you guys said.

Re: My python is very tense
If you've fed her a small mouse, I'd say still hungry. I have a couple that size, or close to it going by your 2 ft guess, that are on weaned or small rats depending on their weight and girth.
