    Some furniture recommendations?

    Hello everyone,

I have not recently added any new furniture to my BP's vivarium, it has quite a lot of things that cover the floor of the vivarum, but looking up, the vivarium seems to be too spacious. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some furniture (Preferably by brands that deal with reptiles) that are useful for filling space.

Thank-You to anyone in advance who contributes!

One idea I've been toying with is little hides inside of big hides. The snake can cram into the tight space if he wants to, or stretch out and still be hidden. Don't know if that makes a difference to the animal, or not.

    Re: Some furniture recommendations?

If you mean the vertical off the substrate space when you say "looking up", then I would try and find some cool branches (not pine or cedar) and add them. I found some cool dried out hardwood branches, brought them home, soaked them in the tub with some dilute bleach solution for 48 hours. Then I soaked them in fresh water for a few days until I couldn't smell even a hit of bleach, dried them out, and soaked them again in clean water one more time just to be sure. I got some big suction cups and zip tied them to each end of the stick, (then filed the sharp point off the zip-tie) and attached them to the aquarium about 1/2 way up. To make it more covered I got some National Geographic brand fake terrarium foliage and twisted it around the branches (they have wire on the inside). If you do use this brand though, you have to rinse them really well in warm water, a bunch of dye will come off the first few times. I haven't had any more come off since I washed it. Mashadar comes out at night and lays under his heat lamp in all the leaves for a few min before starting to explore. I have actually seen him come out once or twice during the day to drink and switch hides since I added them.

Yes, I do mean vertical off the surface.

That is a nice idea, however I live quite a while away from any forest, so I would struggle to find any suitable wood.

It may not be something you want to pay for (and dowels are popular), but you can order measured sanitized natural wood branches from vivarium suppliers.

    Josh's Frogs
    New England Herpetoculture
    Black Jungle

Places like LLL have it too.

ETA: aak! UK, sorry. Someplaces might ship internationally. Etsy (believe it or not!) might have a vendor for you there.

I might consider looking around for some of these suppliers, thanks for the suggestion.

Fake plants seem to be my ball pythons favorite thing. They love going under/wrap around them. Also fills up the cage nicely without it looking cramped, and allows for easy movement still. Only issue is sometimes they can fall, but that's generally just bad suction. My 600 gram male is able to stay on his no problem.

I frequent joshs frogs being the only planted viv guy here. Another idea, make your own branches from some pvc, expanda foam, silicone, and eco earth.
