Yes and no. They could come to prefer the taste of live or they won't care. All up to your bp.

I've fed live to f/t eaters and then f/t again and never had an issue with them refusing.

Probably. I usually have one or two leftover live small rats because somebody didn't eat. It goes to one of the snakes that takes f/t.

That said, I keep track of who eats what each week so the next feeding, the one that got a leftover live feeder goes back to f/t for a while.

I have never had an issue feeding F/T to F/T eaters if they have been offered live. Just recently my supplier ran out of F/T so I had no choice. For 4 weeks my F/T eaters had live 4 weeks in a row and just yesterday the shipment came in and the all ate a F/T rat with no issues (except one who is in shed right now).

Re: Will he still eat frozen?

He will still eat f/t after eating live as long as he was taking f/t prior. The other important factor is to present the f/t appropriately and that entails getting a evenly and overly warm signature to the f/t prey. I think that is key. Try using a blow dryer to get the prey to the right temperature. Also to dry off any excessive moisture from the initial thawing process.

If I can't get ft, I have to rely on a local feed store for live prey. This poses several problems, the two biggest being cost and potential parasites due to where the mice come from. If I buy from the feed store, I euthanize the animal, and freeze it. This kills any parasites and eliminates the possibility of the snake developing a preference for live prey. I've had no issues with this other than having to pay the extremely high price, which is annoying to say the least.
