    Lightbulb Super Black Pastel?

I've been strolling about these forums and such and came across one morph' I really LOVE.
    The Super Black Pastel.
What would be the parent combination to produce one of these? ( I tried to find it but couldn't get a clear answer)
And are there many genetic problems with these? (E.g. The "wobble" in Bumblebees) I heard that if you were to breed these darker types, that kinks would show up in the offspring?
I have a male Cinnamon and a female "Black magic" (Mojave x Black Pastel) Could they be bred to produce something a bit similar to the Super Black Pastel?

(I am a beginner, and do not know all that much , so some of these questions may seem elementary....I ask for your patience and understanding)

To produce a Super Black Pastel you need to pair a Black Pastel with another Black Pastel, you will than have a 25% chance per egg to produce a Super.

Super Black Pastels as well as Super Cinnies and 8 Balls (Cinny X Black Pastel Combination) are prone to duck billing and spinal deformities.

They can have duck bill and linking issues http://www.owalreptiles.com/issues.php that includes cinny x black pastels, which is called an 8 ball.

Super black pastels can be made from a pair of black pastels

Super cinnys tend to be more brown, super black pastels tend to be more black, 8 balls tend to fall somewhere inbetween

    Re: Super Black Pastel?

Exactly what Deb and OhhWatALoser said. It can be done, but there are risks. I was lucky enough to get a 4 year old that was clean, no duckbill or spinal issues.

They're out there, just really hard to find. I think people are just not breeding them because of the inherent risks. I know of one Super Cinny and an 8 Ball on this forum too. Actually there is another SBP hatchling that popped up recently. I totally get why you like them so much. I had to have mine when I found her. Just be careful, be patient, and know that you are going to most likely lay out some cash for one if you don't want to try breeding one yourself.

I think it also has to do with most of them not really staying black which is what most people would like to see.

True. I'll add that to the "I got lucky" column.

    Re: Super Black Pastel?

For the pure black aesthetic, there is a longer workaround. Axanthic genetic stripes (at least the one I've seen) have a truer black to them, but there were some small light patches near the belly. I'd like to see that with a pied - no spinal issues, maybe a more even color distribution. With three recessives, it's certainly an ambitious project, but one that may be worthwhile in the long run.
