    I feel guilty..

here's Kaliya, trying to get out of her tank, like almost every night...
I'm really starting to feel guilty like she doesn't belong in a tank...
I don't know if others feel that way too
Anyways, she's still better here than in those plastic boxes for breeding (no offense to those who keep their snakes in that, just makes me feel sad for them...)

She's not trying to escape, she's exploring, which is pretty normal. If she's roaming constantly you may want to double check your temps and humidity, and make sure the tank is clean of waste as she may be uncomfortable.

And there's nothing wrong with tubs, in fact they are great for keeping BPs as they hold humidity wonderfully.

Agreed with above poster. I started out keeping my first ball in a tank and I couldn't get the husbandry right. Temps and humidity were all over the place and my snake was suffering. I moved him into a tub and voila. Perfect husbandry. Tubs are perfect for balls. There's no reason to be sad.

I agree with kriwu and hazzaram. I spent years using glass, and my animals have been thriving ever since I moved them to tubs. I'm sure she's just exploring. It's very common for BP's to come out at night to search for food. They're nocturnal.

I rather use tubs and have perfect husbandry than use a tank and have bad sheds and ris any day. imo bps rather the security a tub offers rather than a glass tank where they are bothered by the light and people watching them.

    Re: I feel guilty..

I know when she's exploring and believe me, she really tried to put her nose out
After doing that she goes all around her tank and then I know it's ok
About the husbandry, the tank is clean and temps and humidity are ok too
I just feel sometimes like they belong in the nature, not kept in tanks/tubs or whatever when I see her like this

you can still fix a natural setup in a tub too, just need a little bit bigger one instead of the standard ones everyone uses.

"Nature" for them is a hole in a termite mound.

I was looking info on up some North American toads the other day. One source claimed they spend ten months underground!

Hard to relate to, but then again, imagine being some garter snake several feet down, jammed in with thousands of other snakes, in a hibernaculum all winter.

Thanks for the answers, opinions and own experience everyone
As long as she feeds and sheds perfectly, I won't change anything
But having other points of view helped a lot with my own thoughts !
