    Albino Shed Issues?

This is Haku, my husband's little albino milk snake (Nelson's, I think). First picture was in a temporary enclosure while we did some maintenance on his regular one:

His two sheds since husband got him have both been incomplete. On the first, about 1/3 of his body (tail end) was left, and last week he only shed about 1/2 - 1/3 of the way. Both times were easily cleared up with a snake sauna. He's in a glass tank (10-gallon), with at 3 hides (not at home, I forget how many he has), artificial foliage, aspen bedding, UTH on a thermostat for heating. As of Sunday he was 27 grams, eating f/t large pinkies from Big Cheese every 5 days.

We've got my Mexican king and the long-term boarder Mexican king, and my juvenile delinquent Honduran milk all in similar setups , in the same temperature ranges, same feeding schedules (except the hondo has a bigger tank and gets bigger mice, since he's older and larger), and they haven't had the problems Haku has. Could Haku's shedding issues be related to being an albino?

We're also pretty sure his eyesight, at least depth perception, is less than perfect, based on behavior when feeding and being handled.

I don't believe his shed issues are albino related. I have two albino snakes that have never had any shedding issues. You can try boosting his humidity or adding a moist hide and see if that helps.

Agree with the above poster. I have an albino bp and he sheds perfectly. What I do is put a little cup of damp moss in his tub when he's shedding to boost the humidity and I've never had an issue

    Re: Albino Shed Issues?

Ok, sounds like he just needs a little more moisture than our other kings and milk. Thanks for the input.
