Ok, so I know soaking can work great for body shed, but Kitty is not a big fan of soaking so whenever I do he does not put his head underwater and his head is the problem area. So how does one deal with the head area since soaking may not really work for that? Humid hides are great if you can be home all day to make sure it stays wet and clean, but not very practical for those of us who are out of the house for work/class for 15 hours a day.

I am frequently away from my shop for 15-24 hours and my humid hides are always still very humid when I return. I find that when set up properly, humid hides only need to be tended to about once every 48 hours.

    Hope this helps.

Hot side works better. There is an article right here on ball-pythons.net about how to make a humid hide as well as several excellent posts if you search for them.

My first post, and first question.

My ball is shedding right now, and Shadow is not doing well with it. I recently bought a bigger cage, and I have yet to purchase a larger pump for my humidifier, but I'm going to make a humid hide as soon as I find time away from school.
On to the question; when I am soaking Shadow, is filling up the bathtub about an inch or two high with warm water, then just placing Shadow in there alright, or is there a better method?

just remember warm to you might be scalding hot to him since his body temp is alot lower than ours. If you have some kind of thermometer to check the temp with I would recommend doing that. I'm not sure what a good temp would be but i'm sure someone here will know.

I personally make the water the same temp as the cage which is around 83 for me now. Mke the water that temp and you know that it will be ok. Its when the water starts to feel hot to you, because if it feels hot to you then you know its over 97 degrees(out body temp ).
