Where does the Herpstat Prob fit into a T8?
I just setup my T8 _ts not ready for a snake yet. the sealant needs to cure and I have to run it for a while, plus I need to speak to AP about the damage. But that assid, where do I fit the Herpstat prob? I have a factory fitted LED so I could (with a little force use that hole) but that;s in the top I would have to secure it somehow to the cage?
Not entirely sure what I need to do or place that probe. Help!!

What I did was drill a hole in the bottom corner about an inch from bottom on the side the RHP is on. Then run in just enough of the probe to set about half way under your RHP. Tape over the hole on OUTSIDE of cage with black gorilla tape. My probe sits on top of substrate up against side of cage below RHP. I have to run my herpstat at 84 to get a 91F hot spot on that side of cage. Cool side runs 78.

There are a few different ways to do this. This is one of my earlier boa setups and the cage is similar in size to your cage.
48 x 24 x 14.

The heat panel is on the left and is about 6 inches out from the left wall and centered.
The Pro-Products guy recommended I put the probe on the opposite side of the cage. I came in through the vent in the back and stapled (use carpenter staples) it to the ceiling so if dangles just off the floor. (you can see it on the right side) I set the Herpstat at my ambient temp and the hot side just happens to be in the right area. So a cool side temp of 83 is 91-93 on the warm side.
You can barley see it here but it comes in through the back right vent. I believe AP has rear and side vents? Also, a small hole is no big deal.

I use that method in all of my cages.
There are others who do the opposite and have the probe right by the panel and also have success.

Thats interesting that you both used different approaches. Your right. AP has rear and side vents. I was curious to how you got the fat probe through the vent? Did you use a screwdriver to make a hole or something similar? Im going to give Pro Products a call tomorrow for clarification.

I originally set mine up as suggested by the guy at pro products with my probe on cool side but in my situation i just could not get it dialed in correctly. My cool side temps would be ok but my hot spot was like 100F. I moved it over like I posted and has been great.

I drilled a small hole in my boaphiles and put the probe a few inches below the heat panel, been working great for me.

I spoke to Bob and he said it can go on cool side or hot side and adjust accordingly. As I don't have a snake yet I am going to run it in the front between the glass and mess around with the temps. When I have found the ideal spot I will then drill a hole.
Nice!

Sorry, I have Pro-Line cages. The rear vent must be a bit larger.
