    Listerine Trick

I was watching SnakeBytes.TV on youtube and Brian had a feeding response bite. He had a trick to get them to remove their fangs and let you go. That trick was pouring alittle Listerine on the snakes face. It did let go but I was wondering if anyone else does it or is it not good for the snake.

I use white vinegar. No need to pour it on the snake, just soak a cotton ball with it and wave it in front of the snake's nose.

Some people also use vodka but I prefer to use it after the bleeding has stopped should I need an anesthetic.

I use plan cold water... not ice cold but enough to make it uncomfortable for the snake to let go. I can't imagine how listerine would be good for the snake but how would I know? I know that water works fine for me so I probably wouldn't try the whole listerine thing.

With a BP all you have to do is run water down their nostril, and it will let go, I can understand listening for other species but for a BP it's really over killed.

My BP really hates having the mist water touch his head, so I can imagine that if he ever bit.. I would just spray his head.

I use a bit of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. No need to pour on the snake, just get the scent near their snout. I've never had to do this with a ball python, but it's always worked on the carpets.

This. I use vinegar because my boas and retics need a bit more encouragement to turn me loose.
