    And the beat goes on.

I've had my JCP Shredder for a little over 2 weeks. He's eaten every time, had a perfect shed, and has been great to handle so far. He even took his first small rat fuzzy tonight. Here he is hanging out after his meal.

Re: And the beat goes on.

Thanks all. I am loving the Morelia experience. They are so much fun to watch. My guys are never on the floor of the enclosure. They're always perching or roaming 'in the trees'.

@ Fire- I don't think he's still hungry but you never know . He's 37g and I usually feed him a 4-6g mouse fuzzy every 5 days. This last feeding I gave him a small 8g rat fuzzy. After I offered it to him I thought it might be too large. I started to take it away from him but didn't want to hurt him or stress him out. After 10 minutes of trying I thought he might give up and spit it out but he didn't. It took him a while to get past the head and shoulders but after that it was smooth sailing. My yearling coastal was on more of a maintenance diet with the breeder and he weighs about 140g now. He was 85g when I got him 6 weeks ago. I was feeding him 18g rat fuzzys. The breeder said to try him with a jumbo mouse. I thought no way he could handle a jumbo but I'm sure Nick Mutton knows a LOT more about carpets than I do so I gave it a try. He smashed a 30g jumbo mouse with no problem. I'm amazed at the prey size they can take down. As far as temperament, neither the jungle nor the coastal have ever struck at me so far. The jungle is always hanging out at night. The coastal is a bit shy and hides a lot but he has been coming out more the last few days.

Re: And the beat goes on.

From what I have learned, carpets can handle really big meals to the point that they look like a garden hose that has eaten a cinder block. However, I suspect that feeding them in this manner would not be healthy. I have not looked into it further since I have no plans to feed her any mega meals. I will feed mine a large meal every so often which is usually when my ball python has refused her rat. So my carpet may get 2 medium rats from time to time. She is big enough now that the next time I order rats I will get a bigger size for her.

I have noticed that after being fed 1 rat she will stay perched for a bit in her waiting on food to pass by pose. When she has gotten 2 rats then she will pretty much go to her hot hide.

I second that about loving the Morelia experience. I would get 1-2 more if I could talk the wife into it. I am interested in the jungle/diamond still and maybe another bredli morph.

Re: And the beat goes on.

Same here Fire. No huge meals for me either. I'll feed a larger meal on occasion but I prefer to feed smaller meals more often. I'd love a nice diamond/jungle too. Like you, I'll have a real tough time convincing the queen bee to let me have another snake. I've managed to get (6) critters through bribery and begging but I think the gig is up (for now).
