Question about mites. Plus great opportunity to educate youngsters about snakes today

I see so many pics of everyone's BPs
Taking a walk on the grass or climbing a tree outdoors, what do you do to prevent mites after there outtings. Also had a great opportunity to educate my daughter's entire school bus about BPs days. Even the bus driver who was scared of snakes has a New outlook on our scaly friends.

Those are very cute photos! I think it's great that your Zigman is helping people see snakes in a whole new light. I just got my first ball python and my boyfriend's daughter saw him for the first time today. We are having fun teaching her about him. I think it is important to expose kid's to many different types of animals when they are younger and that they learn a very healthy respect for all animals. We have a full house now of ferrets, (pet) rats, cats, fish and now our new friend Alex the snake. She has lots of fun learning about them all, though struggles to remember that they aren't all friends. She was disappointed we could introduce the snake to our ferrets. Ha! Anyway, I'm sorry I do not have the answer in regards to the mites, just wanted to tell you how awesome it is that you are helping people learn.

Reptile mites are not native in the US, so there are no worries about getting them from the snakes being outside. It's thought they originated in Africa and are currently prevalent in the snake trade due to their easy transmission from wild caught snakes to importing facilities/pet stores and their ability to survive and hide, for instance, on substrate or even on us as we go from the reptile show to home. All very true Fomites can be on your shoes Clothes etc. Strip and shower before you go all over the house. play safe not sorry.
