I am currently feeding my bp on 7 day cycles. He is only around 21'' or so and I have been feeding him adult mice. Last feeding i put him in his feeding box and before i could even set the mouse down he yanked it right out of the tongs. he seemed kinda hungry. am i not feeding often enough? should i decrease to 5 or 6 day cycle until he gets on rats? or does a 7 day cycle just control the growth of the snake and has no ill effects? just wondering.

    New Mexican Black King!

I'd keep it the way it is. It's no problem to have a snake hungry for a meal. Don't you get hungry and look forward to dinner? You wouldn't want your snake to be "hmm...well I'm not too hungry. Maybe I'll just pass up this meal". That's when it gets frustrating. I say it's good to have a snake eager to strike and eat. Makes things easier.

Give 'till it herps - Phase 3: Chat-A-Thon!

Every 7 days is more often than they'd normally get to eat in the wild, and certainly more regularly. It doesn't hurt, as Cody said, to have him hungry and ready to eat.
