Need help with possible new baby
Hey guys, I was hoping for some advice, I lost my snake a while ago due to complications from malnutrition prior to me rescuing her and am now a little paranoid, I found someone who breeds his own snakes and is selling a yellow belly pastel ball, she hatched on August 5th, but he says he won't rehome her until she's had 3 meals and she's only had 1 so far, and he's feeding weaned rats, so I'm just wondering, is this normal?
Thank you in advance.

I'm only concerned because weaned rats are pretty large for how small she is and I wasn't sure why she's only eaten once if she's two months old. But I don't breed so I don't know if this is normal behavior or not.

Are you sure he said rats? There is no way a hatchling would be able to swallow a rat of that size.

There is NO WAY a snake that hatched in august feeds on weanling rats a weanling rat is around 40 grams, hatchling BP are around 60/80 grams out of the egg
If the animal has only ate once since august it is a poor feeder and I would recommend you to move on and find a healthy animal that is a strong feeder.

One meal since Aug 5th? Nope. Move along.
If you are nervous about a new snake don't get a hatchling, get a well started yearling or adult. Less chance of anything going wrong with a well established snake.
