who new all i had to do was get a taller cage. i guess with having such a low enclosure the heat emitter was too close to the substrate and causing it to be too dry even with constant misting. i now have an enclosure twice as tall, and am keeping the same temp range and ambiants, but now the humidity stays perfect simply because the heat is further away i guess. yay, more space and better sheds, alfy is a happy snakeyboy.

That's great. I've had an easier time keeping a heat gradient and good humidity in shorter cages, but that's without use of a CHE (belly heat instead). It just demonstrates that different approaches work better in different cases. I'm sure Alfy will be happy with easier sheds.
