African House snakes

Does anyone here own one ? Could you maybe post some pictures please ?

I went to get some food (snake food) over at the snake breeders house and i saw one, i never knew she had one (which is wierd because i go to her house very often)

Anyways....i think they are very cool looking, they almost look venomous or chondro like (to me anyways) Ive read a couple care sheets and they seem pretty easy to take care of and they dont get very big (3-5 feet ).I think i would like to get one in the future.

Anybody know anything else about them ??

I've got a pair, they're very cool - HUGE feeding responses, very easy to keep. Extremely prolific, too - they breed like bunnies!

What family are they in ? colubrid, boa,python ???

On all the caresheets ive read it doesnt say....

How much did you pay for yours or how much do they usually run for?

They're colubrids.

VERY easy to breed - some people even raise them for cobra food.

I keep mine on Aspen w/a 90 degree hotspot, ambient 72-84 & they rock.

You can get them pretty cheap - usually anywhere from $45 - $75 a pop depending on the animal.

I have a single female olive phase, which I've been trying to pair up for a while, but olive phases seem to be hard to find.

This is her before I got her in the summer. She's grown quite a bit since.

Under brighter lighting, she shimmers with a lot of blue irridescence, but you can see some of it in that picture.

I like their boid like appearance (the eyes) in the smaller colubrid package. You keep them pretty much the same way as a ball python, except a humid hide is absolutely imperative when they're shedding (or at least so I was told... mine makes good use of hers when she's in shed so I don't doubt it).

I like them too. I had no idea they were especially easy to breed, but from what I've read they are pretty easy to keep. They're definitely on my short list.

"Have any African House Snakes?" I asked, hopefully.
"Yep, we just got a batch in from Tanzania a few days ago," replied the importer.
"I'm thinking of getting a pair. Do you think I'll be able to breed them this year?" I knew that wild caught snakes often take a period of acclimation before they will breed in captivity.
The voice on the other end of the line seemed amused. "Yeah, that's a real possibility, since they were breeding in the bags all the way over here from Africa!"

I really like they way they look, i think i also like them because they arent as popular as the balls,corns,boas.I think that also makes them very alurring to me.They have beautiful eyes.
