Friend found a snake in her back yard

Hey everyone! Been lurking for a while over in the BP forums, decided to sign up a little bit ago. I'm posting to ask if someone can maybe help my friend identify what kind of snake ended up in her back yard yesterday. Not sure if this is the right place to do this, but feel free to move the post if it's not!

It's a little boa constrictor, of whatever locale.

I think it's a boa constrictor imperator, but... I hardly know anything about boas, so correct me if I'm wrong, boa people. :s

Huh. That looks like a boa constrictor. Maybe a lost pet? I would try to find the owner. In the meantime, it would be a good idea to read some caresheets and get the snake comfortable. Since it was outside, I would head to a reptile vet soon. It's impossible to say what the little guy might have picked out there.

Boa constrictor imperator, aka common boa. Most likely someone's escaped pet.

Did you post the right picture? If so, I just want to point out that someone's cruising for a bruising free handling snakes they haven't identified.

That's a pretty little boa, that I'm sure someone misses! Good on you and your friend for trying to help it. 🐍

Re: Friend found a snake in her back yard

That is quite the snake to find in a back yard. I can only imagine someone is looking for their lost pet. I'd be in a panic over it myself. Have you tried to locate the owner yet?

I don't know if you have other snakes but make sure to keep this one away for their protection. As someone stated, you don't know what this one may have or picked up.

She's crazy honestly. I wouldn't have handled a snake that I found in the backyard for longer than a few minutes, to get a picture of it and get it into a secure enclosure.

Thanks for all the insight everyone! I let her know what kind of snake she found and she says she's going to see if she can find the owner.
