Hi everyone, hoping someone can give some input into the safety of infrared light for snakes, specifically a red tail boa. I am actually posting on behalf of a friend who had an old security system lying around and thought it would be neat to have it set up to monitor his boa enclosure so that he could review recordings if needed, or just for the sake of curiosity as to what he does during the day/night. He has asked me if infrared light is safe for snakes and since I wasn't certain I thought I would ask. What he has told me is that the light doesn't illuminate the tank, but he is concerned about the IR coming off of it. It is positioned to point in from the front of the tank, not the top, if this makes a difference. So are there any safety considerations you can think of? I know true ultraviolet has been shown to have negative side effects and should not be used, what is the knowledge on IR these days though? Thanks so much in advance. It would be really cool to have this set up work, but the snake's comfort and safety absolutely come first.

This is the "light" for the security system.
