Heat Help!
I'm sure this has been posted often, but I keep my snake in a tub and the ambient temperature of the tub is too low. Any tips on getting that temp up?

Re: Heat Help!
Need a little more info, is it in a rack? Does it have a lid? What's the substrate? How big is the tub?

How are you providing heat to begin with?

All the husbandry information is needed and a photo could help too.

I have a 34 qt 23.9 x 16.8 x 6.6 (inches) tub. with a hot spot of a consistent 90-92 degrees. This is just a regular sterilite tub that i had gotten, with holes that I had soldered into the side. http://i.imgur.com/ORk8qS6.jpg heres a picture of the set up. ignore the heavy duty straps. He likes to escape....

You have a few options, depending on how much colder it is going to get in the room where you are keeping the snake. You can cover some holes or cover the cool part of the tub with a cloth, increase the size of the heat element(i'm not sure what type or what size you are using?), you can build a "one tub rack" that you can slide the tub into or buy a hanging light fixtures that can attach to a desk and use a small IR bulb over the cool side for some additional heat. If it stayed in the mid-hi 70's I would say it would be fine since you say he has a good hot spot; the snake will thermoregulate himself, but I would not go any lower for an extended period of time. The easiest option would be to just increase the heat in the room, be sure you keep tabs on the humidity level as adjusting the heat tends to affect it.
Does the ambient temp go up during the day and down at night?

Re: Heat Help!
I don't have a separate room for the snake, so heating up the apartment to 80 degrees isnt really an option for me. I live in quite a small area, think college apartment so there isn't really much space to make myself a rack either.
He is heated with a UTH, that I actually did buy in a larger size to see if it would raise the temp, which it didnt.
