Oral pictures of my sick normal
I believe my normal came down with RI due to (unlike what the post stickied here says) an arid enclosure. I noticed popping in the exhales and also experienced drooling when the snake dangled from gravity. This snake was my brother's that he got at repticon Orlando. He bought the husbandry and didn't buy anything that would have promoted humidity. When my stepbrother bought all the bp's stuff, he got two rock cave hides that are of different style, a heat lamp with full spectrum bulb and a night time IR bulb, a heat pad and thermostat to control temps, a 2ft plastic material branch from petsmart, and the worst substrate for the poor guy.. Ground walnut. My stepbrother who had no experience with snakes basically set poor snake up for illness. Nearly a month went by before I noticed the popping in her exhales. My stepbrother is now out of the picture as he goes to boarding school now and I took up care for this snake whom I always loved.
Since the snake is in my care now I have her in a vision v332 cage with the same props as before but rather with eco earth coconut fiber substrate for retaining better humidity. I also have a reptifogger for her to bump up the humidity if needed.
What I have being shipped on the way from amazon is a dual dome lamp setup with a halogen full spectrum light and another IR bulb so I can have a total of 3 fixtures and backup bulbs. One may think this is excess lighting but mind you my cage specs are 36"x28"x18" so I've got nearly 78 gallons of space to keep heated and those three lights alone still only provide ambient heat for the heated half side of the cage whereas the cool side just maintains light. On top of the lights I'll be running in this big cage, I have a size large reptitherm heat pad being delivered as the small one from our previous cage is only good enough to heat up a single hide alone. The cage is up on 1/3" furniture crippers to ensure ventilation for the heat pads so heat doesn't build up or whatever. Also on the way is Velcro mounted hygrometer and thermometer reader and a laser heat temp gun to get those spot on surface temps read out for the basking and hide areas. The last addition to my deliveries is some f10sc Vet. Disinfectant to dilute in the humidifiers water and help maintain sanitation in the cage which I take very cautiously (always spot cleaning and nuking substrate in the microwave)
I will also be paying the vet a visit later this week and would like to know any recommended herp vets in the Orlando Florida area.
Other information that might be helpful is she is about 30" and feeds on a subdued live small rat every week.
Anyways, I have some pictures I'd like to share with you all and would like some feedback on my setup AND pictures.
Please notice the dark, almost brown coloring on her scale where her tongue would come out on. Also the red vain on the roof of her mouth. Any other discoloration in her mouth would most likely be from a feeding accident that let to her losing her bottom left tooth. She then ate just fine the next day after said incident.
Thanks for checking out my post, I hope this helps both the audience and I with said audience's feedback

hi, welcome to the forum!

i'm not familiar with RI, but good job on identifying it early and planning a visit to the vet.
on your set-up husbandry: again good job on getting things in order to rehab your BP to full health. my only feedback is the size of your enclosure. 78 gallons is very big. be sure to add more clutter than two hides, a branch and waterbowl to the enclosure for your snake to feel more secure. (maybe add more fake plants, rocks, etc.) also i'm glad we don't have to remind u to get a thermostat. lol
RIP Mamba
