Question Help with first ball python purchase please :)

First time poster here. I have been looking at purchasing a ball python for quite some time now and I think I've comes across a great deal. The thing is, it seems to be too good of a deal.

So I came across these guys known as RZ reptiles based out of toronto, canada. I saw they were selling a female blue eyed leucistic, I inquired about her and they said she is no longer available. They then told me that they have a 3 year old male blue eyed leucistic going for $400. FYI I do not plan on breeding at this time.

After reading up a bit, I've found out that male blue eyed leucistics go for $700+ (usually in the $800-$1200 range)

Is this too good to be true? are there any questions I should be asking? What's your opinion?

I appreciate any and all help, thanks a lot in advance.

That sounds like a range some would find acceptable if they were looking to make the sale quickly. But as always, do you homework on them first. Make sure there's not a bad/suspicious history.

For a male at breeding age that sounds good. I usually do not see females go past $700 until they reach sexual maturity, males will always be cheaper except in the case of Deserts.

The BEL range for hatchling males nowadays seems to be around $350~$450 at the least, and isn't too uncommon. For a 3 year old male, maybe $500~$600 would have been fair. Females tend to be the ones to go for $550~$700, but even $700 adult females are hard to sell. So this price you found him at is a nice deal, but not incredibly insane. Go for it!

Male BELs going for $800~$1200 might be a few years ago already.

(For the record, the price ranges are just from my random observation from spying on faunaclassified daily for a few months LOL)
