Hello everybody , I'm knew to the site and I have a 20 inch BP named Mocha. This is our first shed since I ve got her ,and she doesn't seem to be doing that great .She's shedding in different bits and pieces and she seems to be having a tough time, but I just don't know. The temperature is adequate ,and the humidity is usually around 60% but when I noticed that her eyes were turning cloudy I turned it up to around 70-80%.If anyone can clue me in on what to do it would be great !

    Newbie looking for advice !

soak her in luke warm water for about a 1/2 hr, then let her slither through a damp towel. that should help, i did it with my female BP before and it worked

Sounds like Mocha could use a "humid hide" ... There's a link in one of these forums to an excellent humid hide that KLG has available for sale which i highly recommend. If you're on a budget and a little handy you can use a rubbermaid (or glade disposable) container. Cut a hole in it large enough for your snake to get in and out of and fill it with damp moss (leaving room for your snake). Place the container in the hot side of your cage and "presto" instant solution.

In the mean time to get those pieces of stuck shed off of your ball python. You can soak her for a couple of hours in about an inch of tepid water. Then just let her naturally crawl thru your hands and wipe the stuck pieces of shed off as she goes. It may take a couple of tries but it will all come off sooner or later.

    Hope this helps.

i've had my bp for 9 years and just recently found out that shedding in a million pieces isn't normal. i've just always kept things in her tank for her to rub against (i.e. a log)

Wow thank you everyone for such quick replies.I just soaked her for about 25 minutes or so and now she's back to rubbing herself ,it looks like that helped and I can kinda see that 's she's trying to get out of her old skin ,more evenly about half of way down her body is still covered , and also her head is still covered up . I read that the shedding process is supposed to last 7- 10 days ,but is that counting from when she starts to lose color ,or when the old skin starts to come off?Once again thanks everyone for the replies they are very helpful

The 7 days is from when you first notice they're going to shed. Once they actually start shedding it shouldn't take more than a few hours at the most for a bad shed. A good shed will be considerably quicker.
