Animal Plastics -- Belly Heat QUestions

I've just set up an AP T-8. I've got a Fluker's Large size UTH under the hot size. It's connected to a hydrofarm proportional thermostat. Probe is in the probe slot, sandwiched between the underside plastic and heat mat. Here's the problem: I've got the thermostat set at 104F and the internal belly heat PVC temp is only 80F. I've tried airflow underneath and styrofoam underneath with minimal change.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? How can I get more of the heat into the tank?

That's interesting Prove. I've got four T8s to assemble and was concerned about the same thing. I hope you get it sorted out. I'm putting my enclosures together this weekend and will let you know if I have any issues.

Sounds like your heat mat might not be getting hot enough or not touching the bottom of the enclosure. Either that or whatever you're measuring the temp with isnt accurate. Are you temping your substrate or the floor of the T8?

When I used to have a hot spot with a UTH, I was using THG heat tape and a proportional thermostat and it worked just fine.

I'd honestly just provide ambient temps via RHP (radiant heat panel) controlled by a thermostat and call it a day. No hot spot necessary.
